Ten-year-old Jalyn Stofleth gets a little help from her mother Kristen, both of Goshen, as she tries out the Saratoga chips during Taste of the Fair Thursday evening. Saratoga chips are made from one entire potato that is spiraled and then topped with cheddar cheese, bacon bits and chives. The pair agreed that that despite having never seen anything like it before, the chips were delicious. Taste of the Fair is an annual event taking place the night before the Elkhart County 4-H Fair opens. Fair board president Jill Garris said it is a way to say thank you to the sponsors by letting them and their families come out and sample some of the fair food for free and explore the grounds. Types of food available included a fried enchilada funnel cake, circus peanuts, corn dogs and, of course the Saratoga chips.
