Volunteers plant thousands of plants into a quilt garden at the Elkhart County Courthouse lawn in Goshen Monday. The quilt garden is called "The Wild Blue Yonder and is based on the "Flying Geese" quilt pattern. The plants are coleus, Dusty Miller and petunias. Clockwise, from left, are Phil Straw, Annette Webb, Ellen Straw and Tamie Herr. Goshen Historical Society member Ursula Mars, who was also at the planting with fellow members, said they had plenty of help with about seven or eight volunteers from Interra Credit Union working in the morning and a county highway department employee Rex Lechlitner delivering the plants and then helping with hauling away and cleaning up the site.
