Goshen Middle School students paint a mural on a trailer behind Chain Reaction Bicycle Project, 510 East Washington Street, Tuesday afternoon. The students, who are part of the New Tech program, involved in a project called The Goshen Renaissance and were painting murals at businesses and organizations around the city. “The whole project is about connecting to the European Renaissance,” Jared Leaman, a social students teacher at the school, said. “We connected it to the European Renaissance to find out what kind of arts and cultural aspects are happening in Goshen right.” Various disciplines are involved in the project. In math, students were learning about topics such as size and scale. Students in English classes wrote proposals to send to the businesses involved. In social studies, students learned all about the European Renaissance and art. About 125 students are involved in the New Tech program. Each of them created an original design for a mural and about 20 were selected to be painted.
