Adam Garey, with the Seward Johnson Atelier, stands on a cherry picker to reach the top of the 25 foot tall monumental Seward Johnson sculpture “God Bless America” as he removes the protective cover from the farmer’s daughter's face Monday morning at Central Park in Elkhart. The sculpture, inspired by Grant Wood’s famous painting, “American Gothic,” is part of a Seward Johnson exhibition featuring 56 life-sized sculptures and one monumental sculpture that are installed throughout Elkhart County in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of the Quilt Garden.
