After bolting down the farmer, workers with the Seward Johnson Atelier use a crane to maneuver the farmer’s daughter into position on the sculpture base Monday morning during an installation of the 25 foot tall monumental Seward Johnson sculpture “God Bless America” at Central Park in Elkhart. The sculpture, inspired by Grant Wood’s famous painting, “American Gothic,” is part of a Seward Johnson exhibition featuring 56 life-sized sculptures and one monumental sculpture that are installed throughout Elkhart County in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of the Quilt Garden.
