Chandler kindergarten teacher Amy Fisher uses her phone to snap a quick picture of a PowerPoint slide about classroom strategies during a Tools of the Mind curriculum training program on Thursday morning at the Goshen Community Schools Administration Building. Fisher, along with 26 other Goshen and Elkhart kindergarten teachers were recognized for completing the two-year program. “It’s a program that’s a curriculum for early childhood,” Kathy Royer, Associate Director of Horizon Education Alliance, explained. “It’s based on building skills in young children that are both academic and social.” At the end of the session, the teachers will receive a personalized note and a rose congratulating them on completing the program. According to Royer, the teachers have been implementing the curriculum into their classes over the past two years while receiving training.
