Suspicious package

Elkhart Police Bomb Squad Commander Frank Thomas walks with a suspicious package pulled from a dumpster behind the Goshen Police Department Monday afternoon just after 2 p.m. A small area around the dumpster was taped off and Goshen Police Officers said they would have made the perimeter bigger if there was a serious threat. According to Elkhart Police Lt. Doug Ryback the Goshen Police received a report of the suspicious package and they were called in to assist with the disposal. “We have to follow FBI guidelines when we dispose of suspicious packages. We have to treat them all as if they are dangerous.” The department loaded the box, which was a Bunn Coffee Maker box, into a special disposal trailer to take it to the landfill to dispose of properly. No other information was immediately available.
