The new wastewater treatment plant at Syracuse began operation Monday. Operation of the complete facility will probably not be done until the fall, but officials said 90 percent of the plant is functioning. Pictured, from left, are 3 Randy Lindley, project engineer from Ten-Ech; Ron Helman, sewer department superintendent; Tom Clevidence, resident engineer; James Hughes, town board president; Bill Hess, former town board member; board members Kenny Johnson, Carol Koble and Barbra Carwile. Hess was credited with working on the project for several years during his tenure. Not picture is town board member Carl Myrick who was board president when the treatment plant update began. The treatment plant was constructed at a cost of $3.4 million. The collection system cost was $941,000
