5. WHERE BIRTH RATES ARE SLUMPING
The government of Cuba is making a nationwide push to increase the number of babies as the country registers lowest number of newborns in Latin America.
In this Oct. 27, 2014 photo, a pregnant woman is helped by another as she suffers from labor pains, while walking in front of a painting of Fidel Castro at a special maternity unit for high-risk pregnancies in Havana, Cuba. The island nation is in the midst of a broad campaign to drive up a birth rate that has fallen to the lowest in Latin America after years of fewer births, that mean that the number of working-age people in Cuba is expected to shrink starting next year, terrible news for an island attempting to jumpstart its stagnant centrally planned economy.
