Chandler kindergarten teacher Amy Fisher, right, shares a laugh with fellow Chandler kindergarten teachers Erin Behan Morillo, left, and Daisy Gaspar, center, as they talk about teaching strategies during a Tools of the Mind curriculum training program on Thursday morning at the Goshen Community Schools Administration Building. The three Chandler teachers, along with 24 other Goshen and Elkhart kindergarten teachers were recognized for completing the two-year program. “It’s a program that’s a curriculum for early childhood,” Kathy Royer, Associate Director of Horizon Education Alliance, explained. “It’s based on building skills in young children that are both academic and social.” At the end of the session, the teachers will receive a personalized note and a rose congratulating them on completing the program. According to Royer, the teachers have been implementing the curriculum into their classes over the past two years while receiving training.
